I would like to start off by asking you a simple question -- Are you a busy person?
My answer to the question is, "Yes." I am a busy person.
I find myself doing a lot throughout any given day. With a nine-hour work day, Monday through Friday, taking kids to practice, studying for upcoming lessons, making contact with program directors and church leaders for my Celebrate Recovery State Rep position, sending emails throughout the day, spending time with the kids and family, not to mention house work, and I’m sure many other odds and ends in between.
You can see I’m what most people would consider "busy." With all this busyness, can I still have time for the Lord? Maybe many of us try to fit God into our busy lives when we have room, and when we don’t have the time or space we might throw in a quick prayer or two in just to have peace of mind.
Sorry folks this is not how us believers should live our Christian walk. I have been at fault of putting God behind me instead of allowing Him to lead me.
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11
Through the past ten years of being a Christian I have failed, fallen, and learned. Today I follow God. I call it practicing His presence. Even though I keep myself busy, I keep a constant open communication with the Father. He guides my steps and gives me the strength in my day to day walk.
“But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.” Psalm 22:19
Is God leading your life? Are you practicing His presence?
You know the old saying -- practice makes perfect.
