You may have seen this image on our social media and are wondering just what this is all about.
Well, let me tell you.
Three years ago, we took the first Back Row Blackout. It was a 40-day session of prayer and preparation as we went from simple comedy account to a full-fledged ministry, which has ultimately brought us to where we are today. A blend of clean comedy and uplifting recovery-themed messages and discussions through our podcast, this website, our YouTube channels, and social media, of course.
It was a way of focusing on where we wanted our ministry to go, to spend some time specifically on rebuilding, and also to simply have a season of rest.
This Blackout will be similar. We will take 40 days away from the website, YouTube, and social media (yes, even the @BackRowBaptist Twitter account).
We will be in prayer about and for the future of our ministry, we will be planning out future podcasts and events, working on a "top secret" project, and also... resting.
One thing we learned last time was that it was EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to step away at all, let alone for 40 straight days. But it was also extremely beneficial.
So, you may be asking, "You're taking some time off... why all the hoopla?"
Because we want to ask you to pray for us too. This is very much an "event" for us. Please pray for The Back Row, for the podcast, for our staff and cast, and for our direction. God has plans for The Back Row, and we want to be in line with those plans. We, in turn, will also be praying for each and every one of you, from those of you who only follow us on Twitter for the jokes to those of you who treat us like a dedicated part of your day. We are grateful for all of you and hope you will come along side of us in this manner.
And if you'd like to partner with us, to help us fund the future of our ministry, we'd ask that you please consider supporting us on Patreon (http://www.patreon.com/BackRowOnline) by committing to giving a small monthly donation. This will help us pay for equipment, supplies, website hosting, podcast hosting, and travel expenses. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
The Back Row Blackout began on July 4th, 2017. We will return on Monday, August 14th.
During this 40-day period, there will be no tweets, no Facebook posts, no e-mail updates, no YouTube videos, no podcasts, no website updates, no nothing. However, in order to keep up with prayer requests and other inquiries, we will still respond to private messages on social media, as well as anything sent to us via our online contact form.
During the hiatus, feel free to follow me on Twitter @MatthewSCoker. It's not the same content exactly, as this is my personal account, but I will be posting "Blackout" updates from time to time.
Thank you everyone for sitting with us on The Back Row. We'll be back soon.
A slightly snarky Christian podcast that focuses on Humor and Healing for the Saved but Still Human. We're just regular people who love the Lord and love funny stuff. We don't get super controversial, but instead intend to make you smile for a little while.
